PARIS: The Professional Tennis Players’ Association (PTPA), co-founded by Novak Djokovic, announced legal action on Tuesday against the ATP, WTA, ITF, and ITIA, alleging "anti-competitive restraints and abusive practices."
The lawsuits, filed in the U.S., U.K., and EU, accuse the governing bodies of fixing prize money, enforcing unsustainable schedules, and disregarding player welfare. The PTPA claims players endure extreme conditions, invasive privacy violations, and restrictive contracts.
Executive Director Ahmad Nassar stated, "Tennis is broken," calling the system exploitative. Players including Nick Kyrgios, Reilly Opelka, and Ons Jabeur have joined the case.
